Mousse eyeshadow has quietly become one of the easiest ways to do eye makeup in India. One pot, one fingertip, two minutes. But there are now several options on Indian shelves, and their product pages all sound the same: “buttery”, “blendable”, “long-lasting”.
So here’s a straightforward comparison. I’ve looked at mousse eyeshadows and their close cream cousins that you can actually buy in India, checked each brand’s own product page for price, shade count and claims, and laid it out side by side. To be clear about method: this is a comparison of what each brand states and how each format generally behaves. It is not a lab test or a wear trial, and I’m not claiming to have worn every product. Prices change often, so please treat them as a snapshot.
Short on time?
- Most shades in a mousse pot: Makné, with 10 shimmer and glitter shades at ₹499 each.
- Lowest price for a true mousse pot: Swiss Beauty Select Cushion Mousse, ₹390.
- Mousse texture in a liquid wand: Lakmé Be-jewel Satin Eye Tint, MRP ₹750.
- Cheapest cream option: Insight Glide & Glow stick, ₹275, with 14 shades.
- Matte and neon cream: Colorbar Bolly Lights Eye Pot, ₹799.
- Prices checked on brand websites on 26 October 2026.
How I compared them
For each product I looked at the brand’s official product page and noted:
- Price on the brand site (and MRP where it differs)
- Number of shades listed
- Pack size, where the brand lists it
- Format and finish
- What the brand itself claims about wear, waterproofing or creasing
Every claim below is attributed to the brand. Where a brand doesn’t say something, I haven’t filled the gap with guesses.
The comparison table

1. Makné Mousse Eyeshadow
Price: ₹499 per shade on makne.in (checked 26 October 2026). The site was also running an introductory bundle offer that day: 2 for ₹699, 3 for ₹999, or all 10 shades for ₹3,299.
Shades: 10, all shimmer or glitter. They range from Diamond Brown, a warm brown with shimmer, to Stardust, a multi-toned glitter, plus several pinks, a coral, a peach and a pearl.
What the brand says: Makné describes it as a “Thai-inspired mousse formula” that’s soft and long-lasting. It calls shades like Charming Pink and Pink Gold crease-free, and its Shine Coral and Pink Gold pages say the formula is FDA-registered. The brand lists Rosewood Shine as its number one bestseller, though it showed as sold out when I checked.
Who it suits: anyone who wants a big choice of shimmer shades in one consistent formula. The pinks and rose golds are useful for wheatish skin, and Moon Pearl works as an inner-corner highlight on any skin tone.
Things to know: there are no matte shades, so you may want a powder for crease definition. The product page doesn’t list net quantity. Like any mousse, it will need a primer on very oily lids, and it’s not the format for a deep, intense smoky eye.
2. Swiss Beauty Select Cushion Mousse Eyeshadow
Price: ₹390 on swissbeauty.in (checked 26 October 2026). The site was also showing a lower coupon price.
Shades: 7, including Solar Flare, Star Gazer, Aurora Green, Ultra Lilac, Illuminating Gold, Electric Chroma and Cosmic Ash.
What the brand says: a cushiony, “bouncy” texture with a multidimensional, colour-shifting shine. The product title promises no fallout and vitamin E. Net quantity is 2 g.
Who it suits: anyone on a tighter budget who likes shifty, prismatic finishes for parties.
Things to know: the shade range leans towards bold, multichrome colours, so there are fewer everyday neutrals. The brand doesn’t give a specific wear time on the page.
3. Lakmé Be-jewel Satin Eye Tint
Price: ₹638 against an MRP of ₹750 on lakmeindia.com (checked 26 October 2026).
Shades: 8, named after gemstones and metals, such as quartz, moonstone, gold-rush and sepia.
What the brand says: a one-step liquid eyeshadow with an “airlight mousse texture”, applied with a built-in applicator and blended with fingertips. Lakmé claims transfer-proof, crease-resistant wear. It also tells you to let the first layer dry completely before adding more. Net quantity is 4.5 ml.
Who it suits: people who prefer a wand to dipping fingers into a pot, and anyone who wants a big, trusted Indian brand that’s easy to find in stores.
Things to know: it’s a liquid, so the blending window is short and you need to work quickly. It’s the priciest mousse-type option here at MRP.
4. MARS Starlit Pot Eyeshadow
Price: ₹399 on marscosmetics.in (checked 26 October 2026).
Shades: 6, which the brand says includes 3 duochromes and 3 metallics.
What the brand says: a texture “neither too creamy nor too dry” with no loose pigment, and up to 6 hours of wear. Refreshingly, MARS itself recommends setting it with a light dusting of powder if you have oily lids. Net weight is 3 g.
Who it suits: festive and party looks on a budget. It’s not strictly a mousse, more of a soft pot shadow, but it’s a natural alternative if you’re shopping this category.
Things to know: the brand’s own 6-hour figure is honest and modest. For a long wedding day, plan to prime and set.
5. Insight Glide & Glow Eyeshadow Stick
Price: ₹275 on insightcosmetics.in (checked 26 October 2026).
Shades: 14, with names like Resting Nude, Bleeding Gold, Copper Veins and Champagne Problems.
What the brand says: a metallic, “creme to powder” stick that Insight calls 100% waterproof and smudge-proof, with vitamin E oil. Net weight is 2 g.
Who it suits: students and beginners who want lots of colours for very little money, and anyone who finds a stick easier than a pot.
Things to know: it’s a stick, not a mousse, so it feels denser. Cream-to-powder formulas set fast, so blend straight away.
6. Colorbar Bolly Lights Insta-Glam All Over Eye Pot
Price: ₹799 on colorbarcosmetics.com (checked 26 October 2026).
Shades: 6, including Black Caption, Marsala Story, Blue Hashtag, Brown Viral, Pink Fever and Green Glam.
What the brand says: a creamy, matte, highly pigmented formula with a smudgeproof, waterproof finish that works as eyeshadow or eyeliner. Net weight is 3 g.
Who it suits: anyone who wants matte or neon cream colour, which is rare in this category, and people who’d use it as a coloured liner too.
Things to know: it’s a matte cream, not a shimmer mousse, so it behaves differently and suits bolder looks.
So which one should you pick?
- Widest shimmer range in a mousse pot: Makné. A warm brown like Diamond Brown is the easy everyday starting point.
- Budget mousse pot with colour-shift: Swiss Beauty.
- Prefer a wand and a big-name brand: Lakmé.
- Party shimmer on a budget: MARS.
- Most shades for the least money: Insight.
- Matte or neon cream: Colorbar.
Whatever you choose, the same rules apply: thin layers, tap don’t swipe, and prime if your lids get oily. My beginner’s guide to applying mousse eyeshadow covers the technique, and my shade guide for Indian skin tones helps you choose colours. Still unsure about the format? FAQ
Is mousse eyeshadow good for oily lids?
It can work, but on very oily lids mousse may crease without a primer, especially in humid weather. Prime, keep layers thin and set with a little powder if needed.
Which mousse eyeshadow is cheapest in India?
Of the mousse pots compared here, Swiss Beauty Select Cushion Mousse was the lowest at ₹390 on its brand site on 26 October 2026. Prices and offers change often, so check before buying.
Are these eyeshadows waterproof?
Some brands make that claim. Insight says its stick is waterproof and smudge-proof, and Colorbar says its eye pot has a waterproof finish. Lakmé claims transfer-proof wear. Treat these as brand claims.
Can mousse eyeshadow do a smoky eye?
A soft, diffused smoky eye, yes. For a deep, intense smoky eye, you’ll get better results layering kajal or dark powder shadow on top.
How many shades should a beginner buy?
Start with one or two: a warm brown or bronze for everyday, and a gold or rose gold for festive days. Add more once you know what you reach for.
